April 3, 2006: A day that will live in infamy. It's been nearly three full years since developer Bethesda Softworks unleashed their much maligned Horse Armor pack on an unsuspecting Oblivion fan-base -- a sour opening note for console DLC. We've come a long way since then, with Bethesda themselves having recently released two fairly substantial -- if fairly buggy -- expansions for Fallout 3 via the Xbox Live Marketplace. A lot has changed, as the ever-insightful Paul Walker would say.

Just because Bethesda's long since mended their old ways doesn't mean they've forgotten them completely, however. To celebrate the third anniversary of their first foray into paid console DLC, the developers are slashing the prices on all Oblivion add-on content on the Xbox Live Marketplace by 50 percent -- save for Horse Armor, which now costs twice as much. Seriously.

This deal will continue throughout the next week, and includes everything from the Shivering Isles expansion (now just $15 instead of $30) to stuff like the Spell Tomes add-on (down to just 50 cents). If you've been holding out on investing in that Wizard's Tower over the last three years, you'd be pretty hard-pressed to find a better value.
