Gary M. Pappas and John A. Camp were named the recipients of The Florida Bar Journal Excellence in Writing Award for 2008.
Their article, "The Learned Intermediary Doctrine in Florida: Courts Wrestle with Claimed Exceptions to the Doctrine in Drug and Device Litigation" was published in December last year.
Each year, a committee of the Editorial Board selects a recipient for the award based on the writing quality, substance, difficulty, and style of the article.
Pappas is a shareholder in the Miami office of Carlton Fields. His practice includes commercial litigation, products liability, insurance coverage, intellectual property, and environmental law. He received his J.D., with high honors, from the University of Florida College of Law.
Camp is also a shareholder in the Miami office of Carlton Fields and is a member of the firm's products and toxic tort liability and business litigation and trade regulation practice groups. He has extensive experience in product liability and personal injury defense, and the primary focus of his practice is the defense of prescription drug and medical device manufacturers. He is a graduate of the University of Florida College of Law.
