LONGBOW REAL ESTATE Capital has appointed former HSBC banker Phillip Archer to expand its corporate restructuring advisory service. The company, which is headed by Kevin Cooper and Martin Wheeler, specialises in property debt investment. It also advises on recapitalising property companies and investing in debt opportunities and the secondary commercial mortgage-backed securities market.
Archer, who graduated from Bristol University, spent much of his career at HSBC, where he joined the corporate recovery department in 1986.
He took over as manager of recoveries in 1989 and ran the department until his departure in 1997.
He has also carried out credit manager and 'workout' roles at Halifax, Credit Lyonnais and Natixis and, during his career, has worked on the refinancing of finance structures for the Broadgate Estate in the City of London.
